SiliconChats ("we", "us"), operated by SiliconChats, provides the shared checkout at payments.siliconchats.com used by a small network of online stores to process payments. This policy explains what personal data we collect when you use our checkout, why, and what your rights are. It applies to payments.siliconchats.com and its subdomains only — the store you actually purchased from has its own separate privacy policy covering your account, order history and marketing preferences with them.

What we collect

When you complete a purchase through SiliconChats we collect: your name, email address, phone number, billing and shipping address, and the contents/value of the order. If you check out with a company account we also collect your company name and VAT number where provided.

We do not collect or store your card number, CVC or full payment credentials. Those are entered directly into fields hosted by our payment processors — Stripe and, where offered, Revolut — and go straight to them over an encrypted connection. We only receive a payment confirmation and a non-reversible payment reference back.

Like most checkout pages, we also set a small number of essential and analytics cookies: a session cookie needed to keep your cart/order state while you pay, and — only if you arrived via a paid ad — a cookie that records the ad click reference so the store you bought from can measure whether that ad led to a sale. Neither cookie is used to build an advertising profile of you across other sites.

Why we process it

We process this data to: (a) create and confirm your payment with Stripe/Revolut, (b) pass your order to the store's own order system so they can prepare and ship or deliver it, (c) send you a payment confirmation email, (d) detect and prevent fraud, and (e) comply with financial record-keeping obligations. The legal basis is performance of the purchase contract and, for fraud prevention, our legitimate interest in not processing fraudulent payments.

Who we share it with

Your order and payment details are shared with: Stripe and/or Revolut (to process the payment), the specific store you purchased from (to fulfill your order), and our hosting and email delivery providers strictly as data processors acting on our instructions. We do not sell personal data, and we do not share your data with any store other than the one you actually bought from.

How long we keep it

Order and payment records are kept for as long as required by applicable tax and accounting law (typically several years), after which they are deleted or anonymized. The ad-click cookie described above expires automatically after 90 days.

Your rights

If you are in the EU/EEA or UK, you have the right to request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal data, to object to or restrict certain processing, and to data portability. To exercise any of these rights, contact us using the details below — we'll typically need to verify your identity and may need to loop in the store you purchased from for order-specific requests.

Security

All pages on this domain are served over TLS. Payment credentials never reach our servers. Access to order data is limited to the systems and personnel that need it to operate the checkout and support customers.
